Making Life Easier - by Lorraine Murray

My experience with clients (treatments and teaching) has taught me that there is a common theme to many imbalances or issues in life and that one of the simple keys to balance and peace is 'trust'. A simple, but sometimes elusive, key.

What does the word 'trust' mean to you?

As you read this does the word make you feel comfortable or uncomfortable? Usually if students sit and breathe the word 'trust' into their heart chakra (or solar plexus) it can bring a noticeable,physical response, like a tingle, shortening of breath, tension or warmth/inner smile - depending on your response to the word. All indicating that the trust may be easy/less easy to experience.

Trust is an 'inner knowing' that all is exactly as it should be and that everything (that includes you) are okay - you are perfect. To know that the sun still exists behind the cloud is 'trust'. However it is easier to 'trust' when everything is okay eg the sun is shining. It's when the big black clouds appear that we are tested. Even if it turns to a thunderstorm, trust means focussing on the sun being there, even though you can't see or feel it. It's a knowing that the clouds will pass and the sun will appear, no matter how dark the clouds.

So how do we focus on the 'sun' even though the clouds are so distracting? Well first of all we use one or several of the healing tools that are available to us. More and more we hear of new healing methods, it's important to choose one that is important to you and regularly work with it - especially if you are trained in self healing such as Reiki. Use it regularly if things are okay and the sun is shining, and daily if the black clouds have appeared!

Building Trust

Mindfulness - the new 'trendy' name for meditation - is another way of strengthening your trust. One simple exercise is to imagine the word trust surrounded in a golden ball of light - like the sun. Breathe this light and/or the word into your solar plexus chakra - even if it feels a bit uncomfortable just continue as the resistance will subside. You might find that after a period of time the light and word shifts to a different energy centre - like your heart centre and perhaps it moves again - just follow its flow.

Remember that this light contains the healing energy of 'trust' and by connecting your awareness to it (a way of reminding ourselves that the sun still exists behind the clouds) we strengthen our awareness.

It's a good idea to practice this exercise frequently (eg not just waiting for a crisis to hit). A bit like eating healthily - if you do this then your immune system is healthy and can fight off bugs. However if you don't take regular care, then the flu hits and your left with little alternative but to bombard your body with medication.

So regular practice of this little exercise offers you the opportunity to strengthen your own inner trust, so if/when the black clouds appear, you have access to the inner light of trust to help you through.
