Your role in the Healing Process

As a Reiki healer, you are the facilitator... in other words you act as a channel for the Reiki healing energy which flows through you to the person. The Reiki energy then works with the person’s subconsciousness or higher self as they draw it to help release blockages and bring their energy and life back into balance and to heal. The person is healing themselves with your help. The intention you have for healing makes a huge difference to the person’s experience. Some people call it ‘giving heart’ which we have tested personally and the difference is profound. This is part of what we teach in the Reiki training.

Once you are a channel for the energy, it flows through you. To activate this channel, you are taught and attuned to a series of Japanese Reiki symbols and words which help to activate healing Reiki energy. The attunement is a significant step in your life too as it helps you to balance your own ‘mental/ emotional/physical’ energy. It helps you to release things you don't need to hold on to anymore and discover acceptance of things you came here to experience and therefore can't change. This then allows the wonderful Reiki energy to flow through you to the person your are helping to heal.

We teach most of our courses at the idyllic and central Edinburgh location of the Gilles Centre. If you are wishing to travel for any of our courses, the centre also offers very reasonable bed and breakfast accommodation.

What the Training for Reiki I level Involves

The training for Reiki I takes 1 day. However you are encouraged to practise it once learning and being attuned to Reiki ... like a muscle it becomes stronger the more you use it. Once the Reiki pathway is established through your attunement, this is a life long skill which you can use for growth, self development and healing for yourself, your family and your friends. Reiki Training Level I - Taking each stage one at a time will enable you to become more familiar and comfortable with working with the Reiki energy. Your Reiki I certificate will be issued within 6 months of your training date. It costs £119 (£50 deposit payable in advance). Please note there is a £5 discount if you book and pay for your training 4 weeks in advance. This cost includes a manual, certificate and follow up support. Classes sizes are limited to a maximum of 8 people to ensure attention to detail. Bookings are confirmed on a receipt of a deposit.

Reiki Level I and II Training now offered in Fife - Following a similar Reiki I and II training content as offered by Feel Good Therapies, you can now learn level 1 and 2 in the Fife region. Fiona McCulloch completed her Reiki Master training with Lorraine at Feel Good Therapies and is now offering Reiki Training in Fife. Fiona runs her own complementary health business in the Fife region. Fiona is extremely professional and a great person too who understands personally the wonderful impact that Reiki has brought to her life. We normally advise that you practice with the energy for at least 3 months following the Reiki I training before you go on to do Reiki II.

Reiki Days

We also run Reiki Days for our students, where you are invited to a free event to be brought up to date with any developments, ask questions and learn from other people practising Reiki. You will also have the opportunity to join in through a peaceful meditation and to receive and give a treatment.

Reiki Training - level II

Reiki Training Level II is the next level. It is more involved and in this you will be taught the symbols and technique for mental and emotional healing and distance healing. These techniques are essential for helping to deal with 'bad habit's ' whether physical or mental, helping to reduce addictions and phobias.

Learning how to work with distance healing helps to heal the past, people who can't attend a healing session physically (eg they are based in another location) and achieving goals (eg fertility treatments, job interviews etc).

This level also enables you to practice as a professional therapist if this is what you hope to do (or if you are already a professional therapist but want to add this to your list of services). It costs £155 (£50 deposit payable in advance). For an itinerary of the day please click here .

After the Reiki training - you'll be given a Reiki plan so that you practice working with this level of healing energy. Practicing with the Reiki energy is like any form of exercise.. if you work with the ‘muscle’ regularly it becomes fitter and stronger. It’s the same with Reiki healing. There is case study work for the follow up practice to enable you to become familiar with Reiki and gain confidence in using it.

As you are learning a life-long practice for self healing and healing of others, it takes both a time commitment and financial investment. This cost includes a manual, certificate and follow up support. Classes sizes are limited to a maximum of 6 people to ensure attention to detail. Bookings are confirmed on a receipt of a deposit.

We also offer our students free membership of a Reiki and Indian Head Massage Swap Group - as someone who has trained in either Reiki or Indian Head Massage with us here at Feel Good Therapies, you are entitled to join (for free) our treatment swap group - where you can find a local, fellow student in your area and swap treatments. Not only does this mean you get the opportunity to receive a treatment for free, but you will also get the chance to practise your techniques and complete case studies - where appropriate.

Reiki Master Practitioner Level

Reiki Master (teacher and practitioner) Programme is also offered. The practitioner level changes and intensifies the healing energy.

This is a 1.5 day workshop which teaches the advanced symbols and techniques of Reiki for the practitioner level. This is a significant step in the development of the Reiki practitioner for both self healing and helping others develop a sense of wellbeing and balance. This level of training is an important step in your spiritual and personal development. It takes your awareness of healing to a deeper level as you will receive the Usui Master Symbols and attunement.

It is an excellent preparation for Mastership level (teacher) and encompasses some very powerful ways of working with the Reiki energy on deeper psychological levels. This degree is for those who have been working with Reiki for some time and who wish to make a stronger commitment to working with this type of healing energy. The minimum requirement is an attunement to Reiki 2 level and to have worked with the energy consistently for six months, but preferably longer.

This training runs for one (weekend) day and a further 3 hour session which is booked for evening/weekend to suit the student and teacher timetable.

Reiki Master Teacher Level

Reiki Master Teacher Programme is also offered. The teacher level offers you the opportunity to empower students with Reiki healing training.

This programme prepares you for taking the step towards becoming a teacher of Reiki. Working with energy in a teaching environment and helping to assist the development of students health and wellbeing whilst empowering them with knowledge and healing skills is a wonderful experience.

This level of training is an important step in your spiritual and personal development. It takes your awareness of healing, energy and the Universe to a whole new level.

It is an excellent preparation for Karuna Reiki Training too. This level is for those who have been working with Reiki for some time and who wish to make a stronger commitment to working with this type of healing energy. The minimum requirement is an attunement to Reiki Master Practitioner level and to have worked with the energy consistently for six months, but preferably longer.

Teaching Reiki is the lifelong commitment to empowering students with the insight into their own healing abilities, spiritual awareness and self healing journey. It is a step to be taken when you know you are ready to share these experiences with other in this wonderful teaching environment.

The initial stage of this training takes place with a weekend session spent learning more about becoming a teacher of Reiki. These talks are to give you an introduction to Reiki. Whether you are considering a treatment or wish to do some training.

The talk on Reiki is a 1 hour session which will introduce you to the concept of Reiki, a Japanese form of healing. During the session there will be a presentation about the types of Reiki healing available, what to expect from a Reiki healing session, how it works, ethics of Reiki and information on how Reiki Training works and how it can apply to daily life and it's stresses. There will also be an opportunity to try some meditation.
