Releasing the Real You!

Many people start off the new year with good intentions on becoming better - whether that means slimmer, fitter, happier or more successful. Often we think that the world we can see and touch presents us with the only opportunities to be peaceful and happy.

However it is our internal world that really holds the key... the source of all the things we seek. Sadly by focussing our energies on the outside world, we forget our own internal power that presents us with the opportunity for life changes - leading us closer to peace and happiness.

It often feels easier to look towards your job/partner/family/friends/money situation (eg everything in our external world) as being the main source of your unhappiness. But the first thought to consider is how did you really get there? Were you forced or did you take a decision somewhere back in time which led you to this point in your life? If you can see that it was a recent or distant decision (or series of decisions) that led you to your 'situation', then perhaps you can see that it is your decision, your power that put you there. It was your series of decisions in response to the outside world...but the decisions were made within you. It is your internal power and your decisions that can start to change the world you live in.

Inner Power

I can hear you gasp "what do you mean it was my decision that got me here... it was because of so and so leaving me/losing my job etc etc that led me to this point!" So let's switch to viewing ourselves as more than just our physical body and our minds... let's think about you as an energy system.

Just imagine that you could see yourself as a collection of energy points and in between these points your energy flows. Not only does it flow up and down, side to side... it interacts with the energy that fills the space between each of us (eg the universal energy). Imagine that your thoughts hold energy so every time you think something 'negative' it's as if you've taken that energy and put it into a 'negative energy bag'. The negative thoughts keep flowing and the bag gets heavier and denser. In fact you can see that as the bag gets heavier it almost takes on a heavier (physical) form and seems to exist.

Does this seem a bit too far fetched? Or does something ring a bell with you? Think about when you think positive thoughts - again the 'positive bag' fills up with energy and it gets heavier - as it does it takes on a dense (physical) form and lo and behold you end up with the existence in very real terms of all the positive energy you put out.

Some of you will be nodding in agreement and others will be shaking their heads in disbelief. However for one moment hold the thought that your 'energy' flowed into helping you to decide to visit this website, and so doing it then flowed to help you visit this page... and whether or not you can accept this... it will help inform any future decisions you make. Just something to think about! :)

'Now' Power

So how do you strengthen your connection with the 'inner power'? First of all realise that no matter what has happened in your life, your inner power is there and the connection is strong. What you have to do is to become more aware of this connection and to use it to help guide you in your decision making throughout your life.

What worked for me was a combination of meditation practise, learning to do healing, analysing my dreams and meditations to understand their symbology and reading the books that interested me on this subject. Oh, and realising the patterns of mistakes I seemed to make in my life so that I could realise the decisions that had led me to make them. You could follow a similar route but I urge you to follow your own.

Starting with the power of now. In this moment, just try to experience your life from the sensation of touch as your body rests in the chair to the sounds around you. Try techniques to discipline your mind away from the past and back from the future so that you can enjoy this moment of now. If the 'now' feels 'negative' - let it pass and don't try to resist it. Then try to gently introduce a more positive thought in it's place. It takes time, but each thought in each moment helps to create your reality - it's your decision!
