2012 A New Era

Whilst Hollywood has tried to turn 2012 into the next big blockbuster full of catastrophes and fearful events, here are my thoughts on 2012 from an energy and healing perspective.
If we are to believe that we are energy, part of the larger universe therefore everything connects, then the shifts for 2012 are about the shift in energy and vibrations for us all. Just as a wave moves through the sea to touch different shores, our waves of energy interact with each other all the time.
2012 and Fear
Fear is one of the biggest challenges we face as human beings. There are fears on an environmental scale and on a personal level too. Whilst we may think that our personal fears have nothing to do with the world at large, they do. The time we take to face our fears, to learn from them and embrace them helps our vibration of energy to become lighter. As we become lighter and others (who are doing the same) become lighter then the cumulative effect is one of peace for the world at large.
Think about how you feed your fears.
- Do you watch the news ever day/night?
- Do you spend time with negative people?
- Do you pay attention to the thoughts running through your head to see if they are positive/negative?
- Do you find yourself complaining and speaking negatively about others, yourself and your life?
All of these thoughts, actions and words carry a negative vibration that affects your energy. If we all do this, all the time, think where we will be!
Fear drains our inner spirit of joy, faith, hope and most important of all - peace. However it is up to us whether and how we change this.
Tips for 2012
Helping ourselves - whilst we can help others we must always start with the self. This is not about being 'selfish' but about taking care of our own energy first so we are in a strong, grounded place to support others.
- For one week avoid watching the news, violence on TV or anything that represents fear or disharmony. You may find you have to switch your TV off! (The same applies to radio and news channels on the internet too.
- Write down all your big and small fears you have about... your physical well being, money and security, the well being of others, love and romance, the world at large (environmental issues, financial breakdowns, crime rates etc). Don't re-read your list but just write or type every thought that comes up - do this again and again (you may need to repeat this several times). When you have finished either shred or burn (safely) the paper with those words. Fire is a transformational element and the act of doing this is extremely effective.
- Wherever you are sitting/standing - keep the soles of your feet flat on the ground (try to avoid high heels) and recognise how the ground supports your feet. When we are grounded, we feel safe and our energy doesn't 'react' so quickly to challenging people or places. You can choose to breath in and out of your feet as if you had suction pumps on your feet and with every breath the feet become more fixed to the ground. Try to do this regularly throughout the day.
- With any remaining thoughts or fears you have - sit down, close your eyes and breathe that thought or fear into the centre of your chest. Do the opposite of what you would like to do (eg reject the fear) and breathe it in again and again. If it is physical pain, breathe it in. If it isn't tangible, breathe it in. Imagine you have a bucket that fills with all your fears and you lower it with your breath into your heart centre (you can imagine lowering it into a pool of light in your heart centre if you wish). This is a powerful step in releasing your fears - when we embrace them it has the affect of changing our energy so that the heart centre (powerful energy centre in each of us) can transform the thoughts and fears with the energy of compassion, love and peace.
- When you have released these fears as best you can, then take your attention to your breath and start to breathe in the words 'calm' or 'peace' or 'love' - whatever suits you. Imagine that each of those words starts to fill up your 'bucket' and you carry it deep into your body, mind and spirit with each breath - filling the space within you that was filled with fear, with light.
Ideally you would spend time each week or day doing some/all of these steps to help lighten your energy and release the heavy vibration of fear.
Helping Others - when you are in a stronger, grounded and more positive place you may find that you have already started to affect others in a positive way. You may find that you hear or see things differently. You may find yourself with a difficult person and consider them with more compassion than before. Sometimes we can help others by working with the heart centre.
- With people you love it feels easier to be in their energy. It's as if your energy connects in a harmonic way. If you feel the need to support someone you love then do so from the heart centre. If you are thinking of them now, imagine them surrounded in pink light. If you are sitting next to them, do the same. If you prefer you can write down their name and all the reasons you like/love them. Maybe you will feel inspired to tell them this directly. We forget that our lives on this planet are short. It is really important to tell those we love how much we love them and why.
- With people you find challenging you will probably feel a tension in your solar plexus. The energy can feel prickly or that famous saying "cut the atmosphere with a knife". When you think or are with these people try this. First of all notice your own tension and imagine it relaxing or filling it with a pink light. Then imagine you have a beautiful flower in your hands (a lotus flower works very well) and imagine placing this into their chest... their heart centre. Do this as many times as you need to and perhaps combine it with your out breath. The act of giving this 'energy' in the form of a flower helps to soften the armour that these people have built up through their fear, anger and hurt.
The Future
If we each take responsibility for our own happiness, energy and mind then the collective nature and future for the planet will be a positive and peaceful one.
