Holistic Tip - Attracting Abundance

If you were asked what area of your life you would like to be abundant in, what would you say?
  • Money?
  • Health?
  • Love?
  • Peace of Mind?
  • Happiness?
  • all of the above? !!

The energy we ‘put out’ into the world’ has a large impact on what we receive so it’s vital that we pay attention to our energy and particularly our thoughts.

A great or plentiful amount is one definition of the word 'abundance'. So the first question to ask is 'what do you think is a plentiful amount'? Your perception of life has a a lot to do with having and creating abundance.

Personal Experience

I remember when I was made redundant 2 years ago. This was my biggest 'fear' as having a good job (although it made me very unhappy), earning money to live my lifestyle and have the home that I wanted were all really, really important to me. My first concern was 'money'! Would I have enough to pay bills? Would my lifestyle change dramatically (no more meals out... bread and water for me!) and so my thoughts continued for a short while. However I had been doing a lot of self-awareness work through meditation, workshops, reading etc and knew inside that this step was an important part of my self development.

The experience taught me about our emotional attachment to money (and that's a whole other book's worth of information I could write) - but it's enough to say that when we learn to realise that money, like energy of life is meant to flow eg towards and away from us... giving and receiving. Once we realise this it doesn't have the same emotional hold (or generate the same level of fear) within us.

In addition to realising that this step (the redundancy) was an opportunity rather than a disaster.. I came across a book called 'Abundance through Reiki' and as I was trained in Reiki, thought I would buy it and see what it said.

It was a really useful step for me to take as I learnt that abundance starts with focusing on what you do have, rather than what you do not have! In other words if we put our thoughts towards all the things we do not have, it is as if the universe acts as a mirror and life reflects back what our thoughts (energy) are putting out into our life.

The next time you hear yourself saying /thinking "I wish I had..." you are confirming what you do not have in your life. Re-educating your thoughts can be challenging (as you'll suddenly realise just how negative the mental chatter is in your head). Don't despair... here are a few things you can try to get you started:

  • Being Grateful- every day- mentally (and perhaps physically by writing it down) - note the things in your life you are grateful for - eg a warm bed, clothes, food, hot shower and clean, safe water, feeling safe, a good friend, an opportunity to earn money in your job. Try to do this in the morning and the evening (bedtime is best when you can give yourself a moment on awakening/falling asleep to consider these things).

When doing this - note any resistance to the appreciation you are showing and try to do this objectively for example - if I think "I am grateful for having employment but my job is boring etc ... just try just to note this 'resistance' and let the feeling pass... don't fight it... just observe. You can also surround your 'resistance' thoughts in pink light (unconditional love) to help it pass.

  • Manifesting your dream - If there is a specific goal that you want to achieve - eg buy/sell a house, find a partner, find a job - then make a list of the qualities you want this goal to have. Take the example of a new house... write down a list of everything (and I mean everything) that you want it to have/be. Location, neighbours, size, cost, facilities etc etc. Be as detailed as you wish and once you've exhausted the list - then place it to one side visualising it in white light. Don't obsess about the list - and when compiling it allow your experience of other places and their negative attributes to inform your new more positive attributes.

I've used these techniques (and you'll be glad to know that my lifestyle is 100 times better and I don't survive on bread and water). Regarding the second method, I've done this for buying a home (twice) and finding my partner and ended up with 99% of what I asked for. (for those of you wondering about the 1%... boy you're a tough audience! :)

It is important to realise the impact of the energy of your thoughts on your life, health and wellbeing. You can learn to develop your awareness through these techniques and how the energy of your thoughts affect you through meditation and what I call increasing self-awareness with spiritual development. It offers you the opportunity to acknowledge your energy, how it has been performing and then take steps to change it.
