What is Indian Head Massage?
Indian Head Massage is one of the most enjoyable therapies to learn. This therapy is performed in a chair, fully clothed and is great for reducing stress, headaches, improving sleep and general health and well being.
Originating in the East over a thousand years ago, Indian Head Massage is part of the Ayurvedic approach to health. It focuses on the upper body to relieve stress and tension.
The Indian Head Massage therapy routine we teach includes massage of the head, neck, shoulders, back, face and hands to provide a full, soothing and holistic treatment.
Indian Head Massage for Beginners
If you are only interested in learning Indian Head Massage as a hobby or to practise on family and friends, then simply come along to our 2-day beginners course where you will learn the full basic massage routine
Indian Head Massage for Therapists
If you wish to practise professionally as a therapist using Indian Head Massage, you would attend the beginners course and then attend Stage 2. The 2nd stage of Indian Head Massage focuses on how you would practise as a therapist, including some additional, technical massage moves that enhance the basic routine. Stage 2 also includes an exam and case studies so that we assess to ensure you are safe and ready to practise as a therapist.
Health Benefits of Indian Head Massage
Indian Head Massage is also known as 'Champissage' (the Indian word for massage is 'champi').
This Ayurvedic approach to health treats the person holistically; mind, body and emotions. Ayurvedic Indian Head Massage is used regularly as part of this approach to health. Yoga, a balanced diet and meditation are also encouraged for optimum health and well being which is why we teach some meditation on the course too.
As a seated, clothed treatment it is easily adaptable to your home and the workplace.
