Lorraine Murray (née Urquhart)

My name is Lorraine Murray (née Urquhart) and I started up Feel Good Therapies Ltd in 2003 in response to the growing demand for complementary therapies and stress relaxation techniques to help facilitate the healing of people on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual basis. I am a qualified Aromatherapist, Indian head Masseur and Reiki and Meditation tutor but have stepped back from therapies only to teach and run the register of therapists I started in 2005 called Therapies United. I run my courses and training sessions at the Gilles Centre in central Edinburgh (Marchmont).

lorraine

  • I qualified in Reiki I and II in 1999 and then achieved my Reiki Master level in 2003. I am a qualified aromatherapist (member of IFPA) and a qualified Indian Head Masseur. I am qualified to practise EFT (emotional freedom techniques) and teach both Usui and Karuna Reiki (the latter I completed in 2007).
  • I organise bespoke 'chill out' sessions for staff which incorporate many areas of my skills and knowledge - helping people to feel more self empowered and reduce stress - I have done work for Bell & Scott WS and Link Housing Association.
  • I have been teaching meditation to private groups as well as tutoring at the College of Parapsychology in meditation and spiritual development. I am a spiritual medium and have visited churches throughout Scotland with my teacher and mentor, Kim McManus.
  • I have worked with people with cancer and their carers - facilitating stress and relaxation classes at Maggie's Centre in Edinburgh and currently run sessions for staff.
  • My work with children includes teaching primary school children (8 - 12) and secondary schools throughout the region on how to use visulisation and meditation to relax and balance stress (I also worked with the teachers using these techniques too).
  • My further studies and reading have encouraged me to use colour and crystal therapy and chakra awareness for healing with clients.
  • Registered with IFPA (International Federation of Professional Aromatherapists) - full member. Also listed on the NHS Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners, Therapies United and The UK Reiki Federation as a Master Teacher Member.
  • I also run a therapist register - Therapies United - which is used as a resource by Maggie's Cancer Centres, Breast Cancer Care, companies and schools in Scotland to organise therapy tasters and health and wellbeing workshops to reduce stress.

The workshops and classes are run throughout the year from a city centre locations which are easily accessible by car and public transport.

I used complimentary therapies for my own benefit to great success and decided to embark on a career in holistic therapy so that I could use my experiences to help others improve their wellbeing and quality of life.

As an IT Tutor I have over 5 years experience teaching Further and Adult Education and have also gained experience and qualifications in the following:

Suzy

  • Indian Head Massage, IPTI Accredited
  • Diploma in Clinical Aromatherapy (expected September 2007)
  • Further studies include training in Anti-ageing Facials and Hands Free Massage
  • For my own well being I enjoy Yoga and attend many workshops to help deepen my practice. I also enjoy receiving Thai Massage and have attended workshops to learn Northern Style Thai Massage for personal use.
  • Member of Complementary Therapists Association and Embody
Fiona McCulloch

My interest in complementary therapies is not just a job, it’s more of a way of life for me. After 10 years working in an office environment and travelling, I returned to study, to commence my therapy career which is so perfect for me. I am very passionate about what I do and I love to help people manage their health and receive the benefits from these wonderful therapies. There is always something new to learn and I am eager to grow and expand my knowledge in this field.

I qualified in May 2004 from Perth College with an HNC in Complementary Therapies, which included Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Swedish Massage. Reiki was my first therapy that I undertook and I have been practising on a daily basis since March 2003. This led me to being a Reiki Master practitioner and teacher since 2006, which I undertook with Lorraine of Feel Good Therapies.

Over the past year, I have been teaching Reiki to people from all sorts of backgrounds. My students have all had different reasons for learning Reiki and continue to use it in their everyday life. Every one has thoroughly enjoyed their Reiki workshop. In the future, my goal is to be able to teach Reiki to children so they can also reap the rewards of Reiki for self healing, personal development and growth.

My special area of interest is stress, and I am passionate about helping people deal with the stress in their lives. If you are dealing with illness, pain, changes in life, stress at work or home, there will be something I can do to help. Having suffered from a stress-related illness myself, I know how valuable complementary therapies can be in this area. The therapies I practice are all ones which either myself or my clients have found beneficial in relieving stress and stress-related illness. I have a great deal of confidence in the therapies, and will happily offer you a return of your fee if you do not experience any benefits from your treatment..

I am a qualified therapists in EFT (Emotional Freedom Technqiue, Reiki, Bach Flower Remedies, Indian Head Massage, Hopi Ear Candles, Hot Stone Massage and Remedial/Therapeutic Massage.

In addition to practising complementary therapies, I also run regular introductory and futher workshops in EFT
